The Health and Wellness Challenges are health challenges aimed at encouraging men & women to attain or maintain the following three health objectives for at least 8 weeks: (Different Health Challenges will begin and end at different set dates:
The Health and Wellness Challenges focus on participation and action, not performance. Participants take up the Health and Wellness Challenge their own way, according to their personal situation and preferences, and to improve their health.
We will be using the following apps (No exceptions):
MyFitnessPal (MFP): You must journal your meals all 7 days. You must also eat at least 1200 calories and 3 meals per day. At the end of every week of the challenge you will post a screenshot of your weekly food journal. In MFP from your home screen, on the bottom right hit ‘More’. From there choose ‘Nutrition’. In the top left, choose ‘Calories’. Once there you will see a bar graph of your weekly caloric intake. Take a screenshot and upload to website when you upload your week ending weight picture.
GroupMe App: We can all chat as a group, share recipes and challenges. Please download from iOS App Store or Google Play Store.
We have a Health and Wellness cash pot. Every participant puts in a $40 non-refundable registration fee. Once you accept the invitation, you will have the opportunity to pay your registration fee by credit/debit card or a Paypal account. At the end of the challenge there will be ONE winner for each of the following categories: Highest % of Weight Lost, Most Healthy Points Earned,and Most Calories Burned. The Challenger who wins the Highest % of Weight Lost category gets 50% of the winnings. The winner of the Healthy Points category will be awarded 35% and winner of Most Calories Burned, 15%. All winners must have a Paypal account to be paid so please make sure you have a Paypal email saved on the website. You cannot win more than one (1) Category.
We will use the challenge website to enter all our weekly info. The challenge site will automatically do all calculations and post challenge standings on a weekly basis. First thing in the morning every Friday or Saturday, (I recommend Friday), you will weigh yourself, in whatever you initially weighed yourself (ex. undies, naked, PJs, etc). At the end of the week, you will upload a picture of your scale (with your feet showing) displaying your current weight AND enter what the scale reads on the site. Sunday before midnight, you will enter your remaining info (Healthy Points earned, Calories Burned for week.) You will have 2 courtesy days to enter your info (ex. your Monday info should be entered by Wednesday). If you fail to enter, you will forfeit points and calories burned for that day. I highly encourage everyone to enter info on a daily basis.
Please note we will
ALL be using the provided calories burned chart. If you use an exercise machine
(Treadmill/Elliptical) that calculates the calories burned, you may use the
number shown on machine. We will NOT be using smart watches (ex. Fitbit,
Apple Watch, Android Gear, etc.) to get calories burned.
*If you fail to enter your 1st week weight, you will automatically be disqualified. If you fail to enter any weight after the 1st initial week, the system will automatically add 2 lbs to the prior week's weight (entered or calculated). You cannot upload same picture for multiple weeks even if you weigh in the same as your previous weight. If done, you will be disqualified. (Pictures are dated and time stamped.)
